The cash registers are ringing at the Kerala Box Office with the Onam releases, Lokah and Hridayapoorvam, going great guns. The Mohanlal-starrer took the better start on the opening day owing to its male lead's stardom, grossing ₹3.26 crores in the state. Lokah, meanwhile, also had a strong opening with an opening day gross of ₹2.71 crores. Both films have opened to positive reviews with the Kalyani Priyadarshan-Naslen starrer having relatively better reports among all sections.

That word-of-mouth has already started to reflect at the box office, if the second day trends in Kerala are anything to go by. Before the start of the day, Lokah already had an edge as far as advance bookings for the day were concerned, grossing ₹89 lakhs from advances while Hridayapoorvam clocked ₹85 lakhs for its second day. With Lokah's content getting relatively better reception, it is zooming ahead in terms of its hourly gross as plenty of walk-in audiences are also being observed at all major screens in the state. Meanwhile, Hridayapoorvam is also holding steady at the box office and its family-friendly genre should ensure a long run at the box office.
The early second day estimates at the Kerala Box Office indicate a healthy lead for Lokah, which would not only help it to bridge the gap created on the opening day, but also perhaps sneak past Hridayapoorvam's overall collections in the state so far. As of 3 pm on Friday, Lokah has already grossed ₹1.77 crores while Hridayapoorvam has collected ₹1.17 crores for the day with evening and night shows still left to follow. Also, samples from certain interior areas are also awaited.

Lokah is certain to breach the ₹3 crore mark for the day and is set to collect approximately ₹3.4 crores on its second day as per its early trends. Hridayapoorvam should go past ₹2.50 crores easily and looks set to finish at around ₹2.75 crores on its second day at the box office. The exceptional word of mouth for Lokah has ensured a big boost for the film from its third day, as its producers Wayfarer Films helmed by Dulquer Salmaan have added 75 new screens due to huge public demand. The fantasy action film, directed by Dominic Arun, is set to have an excellent weekend and strong run during the Onam holidays.
While not being an out-and-out potboiler, Hridayapoorvam also has the legs to stay in the race, given Mohanlal's massive appeal among the families. During a festive season, a feel good family film seldom dies an early death unless the reviews are extremely negative. Hridayapoorvam, meanwhile, has average to above average reviews from audiences, hinting at a hat-trick for Mohanlal.
