The festive season of Onam is around the corner and Mollywood is gearing up for its major releases. Fahadh Faasil's Odum Kuthira Chaadum Kuthira, Mohanlal's Hridyapoorvam and Naslen-Kalyani's Lokah bankrolled by Dulquer Salmaan are the big festival releases that are set to hit the theaters.
Amongst the three releases, Lokah has the biggest budget due to its fantasy-action genre and if the official trailer is anything to go by, the budget seems to have translated on screen with rich visuals and impresive colour grading. Dulquer's production house Wayfarer Films has gone all out with their budgeting and marketing for this film that is director Dominic Arun who made his debut with the 2017 thriller Tharangam. Now, Lokah has a big boost to its fortunes for the Onam season with Dulquer's superstar dad Mammootty announcing a major update regarding his next film Kalamkaval.
Mammootty, who recently made his first public appearance after months of illness, had suspended all his pending works while allegedly mapping his recovery from cancer. The 73-year-old superstar's next theatrical release, Kalamkaval, will have its first promotional gig, the official teaser, attached to the prints of Lokah worldwide. The announcement was made by Mammootty himself on his social media handles and the update has been received with a lot of joy amongst his fans and well-wishers alike.
Mammootty's two releases in 2025, Dominic and the Ladies' purse and Bazooka, were both duds at the box office. It marked a weak start to the year for the superstar who endured a glorious 2024 with multiple successes. Apart from Kalamkaval, Mammootty is also working on an action thriller Patriot that features fellow superstar Mohanlal as well as youth stars in Fahadh Faasil and Kunchacko Boban.
