The national capital on Friday woke up to the shocking news of Huma Qureshi and Saqeeb Salim's cousin Asif Qureshi getting killed during the wee hours over a scooter parking brawl.
Who was Asif Qureshi?
Though his cousins Huma Qureshi and Saqeeb Salim are Bollywoods stars, Asif Qureshi stood away from limelight, according to The Times of India. The man, 42, was a running a poulry business in Delhi. He was a resident of Church Lane in Bhogal.
According to Asif's wife Shaheen, the accused had attacked him in November 2024, claiming they were jealous of him. She said it was not just about the parking of the scooter and that it was a pre-planned murder.
On Friday, one of the accused, Ujjwal, 19, attacked Asif who asked him to move the scooter parked in front of his house around 10.30 pm. The other accused was identified as Gautam, 18. Both of them were residents of a building located a few houses away from Asif's home.
The brawl escalated and Asif was allegedly attacked with a "poker-type" weapon, inflicting a deep wound in his chest.
Asif's wife Shaheen told PTI that she was pushed away when she tried to save her husband. "He fell instantly, covered in blood," she added.
Asif was rushed to a nearby hospital, where he was declared dead on arrival. The accused were charged under Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita sections 103(1) and 3(5).
