Nayanthara feels that certain monikers and accolades can create a distance between actors and their fans

Only recently, actor Ajith Kumar expressed his aversion to his fans' usage of certain superlatives, prefixes or slogans to cheer or address him. Now, Nayanthara has posted a statement to request fans to refrain from referring to her as 'Lady Superstar'.

In a note thanking her well-wishers, Nayanthara wrote that her life has been an "open book" adorned with their "unconditional love and affection" and that while she owes everyone a lot for bestowing her with this "valuable" title, she feels closest to her name 'Nayanthara' as it represents who she is — "not just as an actor but as an individual."

"Many of you have graciously referred to me as Lady Superstar, a title born out of your immense affection. I owe you all a lot for crowning me with such a valuable title. However, I humbly request you all to call me Nayanthara," she wrote.

She points out that titles and accolades can sometimes "create an image that separates us from our work, our craft, and the unconditional bond" shared with the audience. "I believe we all share the language of love that keeps us connected beyond all limits. While the future might be unpredictable for all of us, I'm so happy that your unfading support will remain constant, and so will my hard work to entertain you," she added.

She concluded the note with, "Cinema is what keeps us united, and let us keep celebrating it together."

2025 will be a busy year for Nayanthara, who will be seen in the yet-untitled Mahesh Narayanan directorial starring Mammootty, Mohanlal, and Fahadh Faasil, in addition to the Netflix film Test with R Madhavan and Dear Students opposite Madhavan, among other projects.
