‘Daredevil: Born Again’: Fans have mixed reviews on the MCU revival

Charlie Cox was particularly disheartened when Netflix dropped the bombshell news that he would not have to embody MCU superhero Daredevil any more. In 2018, the streaming service announced the cancellation of Daredevil after three seasons, which dumbfounded fans due to the show’s popularity.

Subsequently, Cox spoke to Entertainment Weekly regarding his disappointment, saying, “I don’t know how this would happen, but maybe one day we could pick up the baton and do it again.” And so, the 42-year-old’s manifestations came true.

In 2022, Disney+ announced that they would be reviving the show, picking up a few years from where they left off, under the name Daredevil: Born Again – a fitting title. Cox returned alongside Vincent D’Onofrio, Deborah Ann Woll, Jon Bernthal, Elden Henson, Ayelet Zurer, and Wilson Bethel, while new faces like Nikki M. James, Margarita Levieva, Kamar de los Reyes, and Michael Gandolfini joined the cast.

The first two episodes of the MCU show dropped on Tuesday on Disney+ (JioHotstar in India), and fans are absolutely ecstatic, sharing their reactions on social media, especially highlighting the intense and very shocking opening 15 minutes. 

Netizens were also quick to notice that the show had received a 78% rating on Rotten Tomatoes from critics, a stark contrast from Netflix’s Daredevil, which received around 99, 81, and 97 per cent respectively for each of its three seasons. 

However, other fans were not too fond of the show, as some reacted:
