One of the merits of the latest Ajith-starrer Vidaaymuyarchi is Regena Cassandrra's performance. In what can be called an adaptation of the 1997 Kurt Russell movie Breakdown, Regena played a mysterious character with a dark backstory. She recalls her experience working with Ajith with much fondness.
She describes Ajith as a superstar who doesn't carry around the burden of his superstardom. "He is pretty good at being a relaxed and chilled (out) human being," she says in an interaction with PTI. "I'm sure a lot of work goes behind it."
Calling him a consistent professional who shows up on set in such a manner that "no one knows whether he's having a good or bad day," Regena says she admires Ajith's notable quality of handling whatever hurdles he may encounter during filming.
"To see this man manoeuvre through everything — and this film had its fair share of hurdles as well — and how a superstar handles these things and how things happen... that was such a nice experience for me. And as an actor, it's learning," she said.
She remembers an instance where Ajith made her feel relaxed while filming a scene where she had to put her hand on his shoulder in a certain way, and he put her entirely at ease. "When I was doing the scene, I told him, I'm going to put my hand like this'. He said, 'Just do your thing, don't worry.' That one indication itself was enough for me."
The action thriller, in which Trisha played the female lead, as Ajith's wife who goes missing and sends him on a desperate journey to find her, is also populated by the likes of Arjun Sarja, Arav, Ramya Subramanian, and a host of actors from Azerbaijan. To the makers' credit, the local actors spoke in their language.
Released on February 6, Vidaamuyarchi is a production of Subaskaran Allirajah under the banner of Lyca Productions.
