Christopher Nolan is on a steady role, collecting Hollywood’s finest to breathe life into his upcoming film, The Odyssey – an adaptation of Homer’s classic epic poem of the same name. In recent addition, the director has invited Mia Goth and Corey Hawkins to join the cast, Variety reported.

Goth is widely recognised for her roles in horror films like X, Pearl, MaXXXine, and Infinity Pool. The 31-year-old has another horror film lined up for 2025 – Guillermo del Toro’s Frankenstein. Meanwhile, Hawkins, an Emmy and Tony award-nominated actor, is best known for his roles in The Piano Lesson, The Colour Purple, In the Heights, and BlacKkKlansman.

The Odyssey will mark the first collaboration between Goth, Hawkins and the Academy Award-winning Nolan.

The previously announced cast includes Tom Holland, Zendaya, Anne Hathaway, Matt Damon, Lupita Nyong’o, Charlize Theron, Jon Bernthal, Benny Safdie, John Leguizamo, Robert Pattinson, Himesh Patel, Elliot Page, Bill Irwin, and Samantha Morton.

Homer’s 8th century BCE poem Odyssey is one of the most celebrated pieces of literature. It follows the tale of Odysseus, the king of Ithaca, and his long journey back home after the ten-year-long Trojan War. During his treacherous travel, he has one aim – to get back home to his wife and son.

While the Inception director will create the screenplay for the film, his wife Emma Thomas will bankroll the production under the Syncopy banner, founded by the couple. Backed by Universal Studios, filming is set to begin in early 2025 in Sicily, with an IMAX release planned for July 17, 2026.
