“The moment has arrived...”, says renowned Kannada film producers Hombale Films teasing actor-director Rishab Shetty’s look in the much-awaited ‘Kantara: Chapter 1’ on Monday. The film, which is a prequel to the 2022 National Award-winning film ‘Kantara’ will hit screens on October 2 next year.
The producers announced the worldwide release date of the much-anticipated Kannada film on Sunday and teased the actor’s look in the 1.21-minute-long teaser today. The teaser shows a Rishab Shetty bathed in blood, standing inside a cave with fire at its rim. The actor is also the director of the film and has co-written the script of ‘Kantara: Chapter 1’ with Anirudh Mahesh andShanil Guru. Besides Indian languages, the film will also be released in English.
Hombale Films, producers of pan-Indian blockbuster films like the KGF series and Salaar, said they recreated the historic Kadamba Empire at Kundapur for the much-anticipated prequel of Kantara. "This intricate set, complete with detailed architecture and lifelike surroundings, is expected to transport audiences to a bygone time," the producers said in a statement.

Kantara was a supernatural action thriller set in coastal Karnataka and the film boasts of a perfect blend of powerful performances, local folklore, and incredible action sequences. Produced at a cost of Rs 16 crore, the film went on to become one of the biggest hits of 2022, earning over Rs 400 crore across the globe. The film was adjudged ‘Popular film providing wholesome entertainment’ and earned Rishab Shetty his first National Award for 'Best Actor' at the 70th National Film Awards.
