Actor Alia Bhatt has boarded Richie Mehta‘s Amazon original investigative crime series Poacher as an executive producer.

Mehta's last project was Delhi Crime, which he created, directed and wrote. Poacher is based on true events and unearths the largest ivory poaching ring in Indian history. The series, which premiered at Sundance in 2023, stars Nimisha Sajayan, Roshan Mathew and Dibyendu Bhattacharya. The series has been shot in Malayalam, Hindi and English.

Bhatt joins the project as an executive producer via her banner Eternal Sunshine Productions, according to a PTI report. Being part of "Poacher" is an honour for both her and her team at the production house, the actor said. Her first OTT project as a producer was Darlings, which was released on Netflix.

Bhatt is a supporter of environmental sustainability and promotes the same through her platform Coexist. She is also pro-sustainable fashion, which she promotes through Mi Wardrobe is Su Wardrobe.

“The storytelling genuinely moved me, especially knowing it’s based on true events, that sheds light on brutal crimes occurring in our forests. I am confident that ‘Poacher’ will serve as an eye-opener, delivering a powerful message to be more compassionate and considerate towards all living beings. It’s a call to embrace coexistence and I am genuinely thrilled to be collaborating with Richie, QC and Prime Video and to contribute to this narrative,” Bhatt said.
