Veteran Bengali actor Sreela Majumdar passed away on Saturday aged 65. According to media reports, the popular artist has been battling cancer for the past three years. The actress finally succumbed to the fatal disease. The news of Sreela Majumdar's demise was broken by her husband news reports said.

Reacting to Majumdar's passing, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee said the state will miss her stellar presence.

"Saddened by the news of the demise of film actress Sreela Majumdar today afternoon. Sreela was a noted and powerful actress who played outstanding roles in several significant Indian films. It is a big loss for Bengal film industry and we shall miss her stellar presence.  My condolences to her family," the CM jotted on X (formerly Twitter).
