Production house A24 has won a bidding war for the rights to bankroll a biopic of tech entrepreneur Elon Musk. Filmmaker Darren Aronofsky, known for critically acclaimed films like Black Swan and most recently, The Whale, will helm the biopic, Variety reported.

However, who will essay the tech mogul in the biopic is still a mystery.

The film will be based on Walter Isaacson's authorised biography of the tech mogul. Released in September, Elon Musk gave a peek into the life of the billionaire. Right from Musk's difficult childhood in South Africa, to juicy details of his domestic life (Musk has 10 children with three women) and his grand plans for humanity through SpaceX and Tesla, the biography delves deep into his complex personality. The book also addressed subjects like sustainable energy and artificial intelligence.

Isaacson's book on Steve Jobs was also previously adapted into a film.

A24, which bankrolled Aronofsky's The Whale, has also reportedly bought the rights of his 1998 debut feature Pi.

Responding to news of his biopic, Musk took to X to post that he was glad Darren is directing the film. “He is one of the best,” Musk wrote.

Musk, the wealthiest person in the world currently, has been a controversial figure. Most recently, Musk has been making headlines with his decisions after he took over social media platform Twitter, now rebranded as X. Since his takeover, Musk fired top executives, started charging users for verification, took on legacy media and removed headines from news stories shared on X. Another book released this week—Breaking Twitter: Elon Musk and the Most Controversial Corporate Takeover In History— explores the $44 billion acquisition of Twitter by Musk last year.
