Actress Deepika Padukone is Bollywood's most successful female celebrity. Two of her most recent works—Pathaan and Jawan, in which she has a cameo—have scripted box office records. While she receives praise from fans for her role in Jawan, she revealed that she does not charge a fee for special appearances in films.

“Any special appearance for Shah Rukh Khan, I am there,” she told THE WEEK in an exclusive interview. In the extended cameo in Jawan, Deepika plays the role of the protagonist Azad's (SRK) mother.

Deepika also shared about her bond with Shah Rukh and the deep trust they share. Jawan, starring Shah Rukh and Nayanthara, registered the biggest-ever opening for a Hindi film and has raked in over Rs 600 crore at the global box office.

The actress further said that she did not charge for her performance in sports drama 83 as well. Headlined by Ranveer Singh, 83 is based on India's historic World Cup win in 1983. While Ranveer essayed former Indian captain Kapil Dev in the Kabir Khan-directorial, Deepika played the role of Kapil's wife Romi Bhatia.

Deepika, who also co-produced the film, said: “I wanted to be a part of 83 because I wanted it to be an ode to women who stand behind their husbands’ glory. I watched my mother do it. This was my homage to wives who make sacrifices to support their husbands’ careers.”
