Mother of popular South Indian actor Mammootty, Fatima Ismail, passed away on Friday. She was 93.
She breathed her last at a private hospital in Kochi due to old age.
The funeral took place on Friday evening at Chempu Juma Masjid Kabristan in Vaikom.
Politicians, celebrities from the Malayalam film industry and the actor's fans expressed their condolences.
“Spoke to Mammootty this morning to express my sincere condolences on the passing of his mother. As I have grown older I have become much closer to my own mother, & I am aware of the preciousness of this irreplaceable bond. May he find the peace of mind to cope w/his loss." tweeted Congress leader Shashi Tharoor.
