As ace director Mani Ratnam’s magnum opus Ponniyin Selvan 2 is gearing up for release, the promotions for PS2 have begun. As part of the promotions, the lead actors in the period film have started talking about the film and their characters on social media. Unfortunately, Trisha Krishnan, who plays Kundavai, and Jayam Ravi who plays the lead character Ponniyin Selvan seem to have lost their Twitter Blue tick when they began promoting PS 2 through their Twitter handles.

As part of the promotional strategy, Jayam Ravi and Trisha changed their Twitter handles to their respective character names. Jayam Ravi changed it to Arunmozhi Varman and Trisha changed her handle name to Kundavai. However, the Twitter verified blue tick was immediately taken off as they violated Twitter rules. While Trisha immediately changed it back to @trishtrashers she hasn’t got back her blue tick. But Ravi has retained his screen name of ArunMozhi Varman on his Twitter handle.

PS 2 is all set to hit the screens on April 28. While part one introduced the characters and told the story of the Cholas encapsulating every emotion—friendship, love, romance, valour, conspiracy and treachery—part 2 will tell the story of prince Arunmozhi Varman or Ponniyin Selvan.

Kalki Krishnamurthy’s five-part novel got a royal cinematic touch with Mani Ratnam’s direction bringing alive every character. PS1 ended with a high sea climax, making the audience wait to know what happened to Ponniyin Selvan. The second part which comprises the third, fourth and the fifth parts of the novel is expected to tell the story of the return of Ponniyin Selvan and who Nandhini (played by Aishwarya Rai) is.

Expectations over the release of part two have soared high with the makers of the film launching the promotions. Yes, the Cholas are back.
