The Censor Board of Film Certification (CBFC) has recommended a few changes in the song 'Besharam Rang', in Shah Rukh Khan and Deepika Padukone's Pathaan. The song triggered a row after many felt the actress, dressed sensually in a swimsuit, was “disrespecting” the saffron colour. It is not clear, whether the cuts suggested by the Censor Board involve scenes related to the bikini.

According to reports, the Censor Board, citing “partial nudity”, told the makers to replace close-up shots of Deepika Padukone and the sensual dance movements during the lyrics of 'Bahut hi tang kiya' with “suitable scenes”.

A leaked CBFC document being circulated on social media also revealed that other cuts include replacing the word RAW with 'Hamare', ‘PM’ with ‘President or Minister’. The word PMO has to be removed from 13 scenes, reports stated.

CBFC advised makers of Pathaan to implement changes in the film, including in its songs, and submit a revised version for certification, chairperson Prasoon Joshi had said in a statement. Bollywood Hungama reported that the Pathaan team implemented these changes and the film secured a U/A certificate.

Meanwhile, members of the right-wing outfits Vishwa Hindu Parishad and Bajrang Dal on Wednesday created a ruckus at a mall in Gujarat and tore up posters and other publicity material of Pathaan. Gujarat VHP had earlier said it will not allow the screening of the film anywhere in Gujarat, mainly because of the song 'Besharam Rang'.

The film, directed by Siddharth Anand, releases in theatres on January 25.
