Reacting to Grammys and Oscars failing to pay tribute to late singer Lata Mangeshkar, Kangana Ranaut said the award shows must be banned. “We should boycott these snooty western awards,” she wrote on her Instagram stories.

“We must take strong stands against any local awards who claim to be international and yet ignore and intentionally sideline legendary artists because of their race or ideologies. Both Oscar and Grammy failed to give tribute to Bharat Ratna Lata Mangeshkar ji. Our media should totally boycott these biased local events who claim to be global awards,” she added.

Lata Mangeshkar was not included in the 'In Memoriam' section of the 64th Annual Grammy Awards on Monday, a week after the Academy Awards left out the music icon from its homage segment. The legendary singer died on January 6 at the age of 92.

Her absence from the tribute sections of both events had disappointed fans and social media users who criticised the institutions that organise the ceremonies.

On the work front, Kangana is hosting Lock Upp, a reality show streaming on Alt Balaji. The actress is also awaiting the release of her films Dhaakad and Tejas.
