Vivek Agnihotri, director of The Kashmir Files has been granted 'Y’ category security by the Centre, with CRPF cover pan India.

This move comes weeks after the director claimed threat to his life over the release of his film, Times of India reported. The movie, based on the exodus of Kashmiri Pandits from the Valley, has received massive push from the BJP and the Centre, with even PM Modi praising the film. Many states like Uttar Pradesh, Tripura, Bihar, Goa, Haryana and Uttarakhand have made the movie tax free.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Wednesday termed The Kashmir Files “a bold representation of truth” in which the Kashmiri Pandit community was forced to leave their own homes in the country.

“Met with today’s #TheKashmirFiles team. The truth of the sacrifice, unbearable pain and struggle of Kashmiri Pandits who were forced to leave their home in their own country has come to the notice of the whole world through this film, which is a very commendable effort,” Shah said in a tweet.

"I wanted to make a sensitive film that has universal resonance... The whole world loves this film, the sensibilities of this film are international. I wanted to show the truth to the whole world," Agnihotri had said at a press conference.

The movie, which had released in theatres on March 11, stars Anupam Kher, Mithun Chakraborty, Pallavi Joshi, Darshan Kumaar, and others.
