The second week of August comes with a slew of releases on various streaming platforms. Hindi war films like Shershaah and Bhuj: The Pride of India set the patriotic mood before Independence Day.

Prithviraj-starrer Malayalam film Kuruthi dropped on Amazon Prime Video on Wednesday. Featuring an ensemble cast of talented actors, Prithviraj Sukumaran, Roshan Mathew, Murali Gopy, Shine Tom Chacko, Mamukkoya, Srindaa, Navas Vallikkunnu and Thanneer Mathan Dinangal fame Naslen, Kuruthi narrates the tale of a group of men who end up at a house in a night of horrors.

Shershaah: Amazon Prime Video

Release date: August 12

Touted to be a biographical war drama, the movie directed by Vishnuvaradhan, narrates the life story of Captain Batra and how he led the charge of his troops during the 1999 Kargil war. In the film, Siddharth Malhotra will be seen in the double role of Captain Vikram Batra and his twin brother Vishal Batra. Kiara Advani. Advani, who plays Dimple Cheema - the romantic interest of Captain Vikram Batra in the film.

Bhuj: The Pride of India: Disney plus Hotstar

The film is billed as a "true story" of bravery, patriotism and determination set in the backdrop of the 1971 Indo-Pakistan War. The period war-action movie follows IAF Squadron Leader and then Bhuj airport in-charge Vijay Karnik, played by Ajay Devgn, who reconstructed an entire IAF airbase along with the help of 300 women from a local village in Madhapar to protect the country. Bhuj also stars Sanjay Dutt, Sonakshi Sinha, Ammy Virk, Nora Fatehi and Sharad Kelkar.

Beckett: Netflix

Beckett, starring John David Washington, revolves around a man who goes for a vacation to Greece and becomes the target of a manhunt. He is forced to run for his life and desperately needs to get across the country to the American embassy to clear his name. Washington will also be joined by actress Alicia Vikander in the movie.

Netrikann: Disney plus Hotstar

The Tamil crime thriller features Nayanthara who plays a visually challenged woman in search of a serial killer. The thriller, directed by Milind Rau, is bankrolled by director Vignesh Shivan under his home production banner Rowdy Films. Talking about the project, Milind said in a statement: “Tamil audiences love a good thriller, and I wanted to create a movie unlike any that the genre has seen in Kollywood.”

Modern Love season 2: Amazon Prime Video

After a much-loved season 1, the anthology series that explores human relationships gets back with the next season this week. Based on New York Times column and podcast, featuring standalone stories of everyday romance, the first season of the series had debuted in October 2019. Season 2 will star all-new cast including Gbenga Akinnagbe, Lucy Boynton, Tom Burke, Zoe Chao, Minnie Driver, Grace Edwards, Dominique Fishback, Kit Harington, Garrett Hedlund, Tobias Menzies, Sophie Okonedo, Zane Pais, Anna Paquin, Isaac Powell, Marquis Rodriguez, and Lulu Wilson. The John Carney-created anthology show will bring to life a collection of stories about relationships, connections, betrayals and revelations.

Godzilla vs Kong: Amazon Prime Video

The high-octane action thriller that released in theatres in March, will start streaming on Amazon Prime Video from August 14. The American monster film will be available in English, Hindi, Tamil and Telugu languages. The movie focuses on Kong and his protectors, who undertake a perilous journey to find his true home, and with them is Jia, a young orphaned girl with whom he has formed a unique and powerful bond. Godzilla vs Kong features an ensemble cast of Alexander Skarsgard, Millie Bobby Brown, Rebecca Hall, Kyle Chandler, Brian Tyree Henry, Eiza Gonzalez, Jessica Henwick and Julian Dennison.
