Don Palathara’s ‘Santhoshathinte Onnam Rahasyam’ to premiere at IFFK tomorrow

The film features Rima Kallingal and Jitin Puthenchery

Filmmaker Don Palathara’s  Santhoshathinte Onnam Rahasyam will have its world premiere on February 14, at the ongoing International Film Festival of Kerala (IFFK).

Santhoshathinte Onnam Rahasyam, starring Rima Kallingal and Jitin Puthenchery is a relationship drama, filmed as a 85-minute single shot and set exclusively in a car. “This relationship drama reveals the nuances of the intense disputes and unreasoned manoeuvres that people adapt in intimate relationships,” reads the film’s description on the IFFK website.

 Two films by Palathara are being screened at the 25th edition of IFFK. His other film, 1956, Central Travancore, was also screened at the IFFK recently. 1956, Central Travancore had its world premiere at the 42nd Moscow International Film Festival last year, and a subsequent screening at the Indie India fest at Spain.

Palathara is known for his critically acclaimed previous outings like Shavam and Vith.

The IFFK began on February 10 adhering to strict COVID-19 health protocol in the backdrop of the pandemic. For the first time in the history of the fest, it is being held in four different districts of the state. The festival will run between February 10 and 14 in Thiruvananthapuram, February 17-21 at Ernakulam, February 23-27 at Thalassery and March 1-5 at Palakkad.

As many as 80 films from over 30 countries will be screened this year. Of the 14 films in the International competition, Lijo Jose Pellissery's Churuli, which is a world premiere, and Jayaraj's Hasyam, will feature from Malayalam.
