With PUBG: Mobile gone, a void opened for the free time of over 170 million mobile gamers in India. Much like how Indian companies sought to sweep in after TikTok was banned, the Indian gaming industry was also optimistic that an indigenously-developed videogame could fill the void.

Now, Akshay Kumar has showcased a new action game—FAU-G (Fearless and United-Guards)—which promises to let players learn about the “sacrifices of our soldiers”.

“Supporting PM @narendramodi’s AtmaNirbhar movement, proud to present an action game,Fearless And United-Guards FAU-G. Besides entertainment, players will also learn about the sacrifices of our soldiers. 20% of the net revenue generated will be donated to @BharatKeVeer Trust #FAUG” the actor tweeted.

The game was announced by Vishal Gondal, CEO of GOQii and founder of IndiaGames (which was later sold to Disney).

Former telecom minister Milind Deora tweeted about Gondal’s involvement.

“Barely two days after we banned #PUBG, my good friend @vishalgondal announces the launch of an Indian online multiplayer game. Vishal sold his erstwhile gaming business to @Disney for $100mn in 2012 & currently runs @GOQii. More power to India’s talented young entrepreneurs!”

The game will be developed by Indian games studio nCore Games, which has also worked on titles like the Multiplayer Online Battle Arena (MOBA) title Vainglory.

Details about the game’s format, engine, and release date have not yet been released. PUBG: Mobile is a battle royale style game, where 100 players are airdropped onto a large playing area and have to scavenge for weapons and equipment to survive in battle against each other, as the playing area gradually decreases over time forcing them into close confrontation.
