Every once in a while, there is a challenge going viral on social media. While some of these challenges are fairly simple (#NoMakeupSelfie), some are outlandish (ice bucket challenge), while some others veer into the territory of being frighteningly dangerous (Bird Box Challenge).
The latest challenge to go viral is the #BottleCapChallenge. While it may read simple, the challenge is far from easy. It involves removing the cap of a bottle with a roundhouse kick. The unscrewing has to be done with a single kick, while ensuring that the bottle do not move or fall.
#BottleCapChallenge became viral after British action star Jason Statham nailed perfect kick after he was challenged by singer-songwriter John Mayer. Statham nominated director Guy Ritchie for the challege.
The trend reportedly appeared in the the world of mixed martial arts, but soon crossed over to other fields, thanks to UFC Featherweight Champion Max Holloway who challenged John Mayer. Not to be left behind, John Mayer aced the challenge and named Statham.
Soon other celebrities, including Whitney Cummings, MME champion Conor McGregor who nominated Floyd Mayweather among others joined in, making it a rage.
Unlike pouring a bucket of water over your head or clicking a selfie without make-up, this challenge do require you to be skillful—really, really skillful. Hence, the likelihood of the #BottleCapChallenge becoming a range among youngsters, except of course those that possess some kickboxing skills, is scarce.
