Warner Bros' chief executive Kevin Tsujihara is stepping down in the midst of allegations about an improper relationship he shared with an actress. Recently, The Hollywood Reporter published an article about allegations that he agreed to promote the career of a young actress, with whom he was having a sexual relationship. The report also spoke of his text messages with the actress, Charlotte Kirk, in which she seeks his help to land roles.

Warner Bros is currently investigating the allegations.

Kirk was eventually cast in small parts in two Warner Bros films—How to be Single and Ocean’s 8. Tsujihara's lawyer, however, said he did not have a direct role in the hiring of the actress in any of the films. According to reports, John Stankey, chief executive of parent company WarnerMedia, said that it was "in the best interest" of the firm that Tsujihara steps down.

In a letter to staff on Monday, Tsujihara wrote: "It has become clear that my continued leadership could be a distraction and an obstacle to the company's continued success."

"The hard work of everyone within our organisation is truly admirable, and I won't let media attention on my past detract from all the great work the team is doing," he wrote.
