On Wednesday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi sent out a series of tweets, tagging eminent film personalities like Amitabh Bachchan, Shah Rukh Khan, Karan Johar, Deepika Padukone, Mohanlal and more, urging them to encourage people to go out and vote in the upcoming general elections. Apart from celebrities from Bollywood and regional cinema, he also tagged sportspersons and politicians.

In smartly-worded tweets, Modi even tried to bring in punchlines associated with the actors and their films. For instance, in his tweet addressed to Ranveer Singh and Vicky Kaushal, he referred to the punchlines 'Apna time aayega' (Gully Boy), and 'josh' (Uri: The Surgical Strike).

Karan Johar, Manoj Bajpayee, AR Rahman and Akshay Kumar promptly responded to Modi's tweet and offered support.

Modi ended his tweet series urging fellow Indians to ensure voter awareness across the country and ensure that maximum number of Indians come out to vote in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections.
