Comedian Mallika Dua, reacting to sexual harassment allegations against her father Vinod Dua, said that she stood "in solidarity with the movement and in support of the voices". "If at all my father is truly guilty of what you described, it is unacceptable, traumatic and painful," she wrote on Twitter.

The veteran Dooradarshan anchor, and currently contributing editor to The Wire, was accused by filmmaker Nishtha Jain of sexually harassing her almost three decades before. Jain wrote in a Facebook post: One night as I came down to the parking, he [Vinod] was there. He said, he wanted to talk to me and asked me to enter his car - a black SUV/Jeep, I don't remember the make as I'm not into automobiles. Assuming that he wanted to apologise for his behaviour, I entered the car but before I could even settle down he began slobbering all over my face. I managed to get out and get into my office car and leave. I spotted him again in the parking in the coming nights and would go right back and wait till someone was ready to leave along with me in the office car. After a few days he stopped stalking me. The man was Vinod Dua. When I read about his outrage against Akshay Kumar's sexist words to his daughter Mallika Dua, I said to myself he's obviously forgotten that he was no less sexist, no less misogynist, no less creepy a sexual harasser, potential rapist.

In her counter, Mallika Dua wrote: To opportunist bhakts and RW trolls, and those making this about me, F*** ***. I'm STILL going to stand up against bigotry, misogyny, stand up for survivors, and for whatever the hell I believe in. Nothing gets to kill my vibe and IM NOT SORRY.

To Everyone Else, This is NOT my battle to fight. It's not MY responsibility or MY shame or MY burden. I will deal with this my way and on my time. Stop forcing women to give statements for your entertainment. I stand with the movement and will not let its objectives, ideals and purpose be hijacked by the shamers.  This is my dad's battle, I will let him fight it and I will stand by him."
