J.K.Rowling reaches out to 12-yr-old Kashmiri girl who wants to meet the author

People Rowling

Twelve-year-old Kulsum Bano Bhat has been an ardent fan of Harry Potter and the world of magic woven by J.K. Rowling in her books. However, little did Kulsum, a student of the Haji Public School in Kashmir's Doda village, expect the magic to find a way into her real life.

Earlier this week, Kulsum's teacher tweeted a photograph of Kulsum's essay on J.K. Rowling. In the essay Kulsum had written that she was inspired by Rowling not only because she writes well but also because she has faced many difficulties but didn't give up. Sabbah Haji, director of the school, retweeted the teacher's post and tagged J.K. Rowling. She wrote: “a first generation English learner from the Himalayas would like to meet you someday. So come visit us at #HajiPublicSchool”.

Kulsum and her teachers were in for a surprise when J.K Rowling replied to the tweet and asked for Kulsum's details so that she could 'send her something'.

Sabbah later shared a picture of Kulsum with her friends.
