BrahMos Aerospace has confirmed that fulfilling major supersonic cruise missile orders for the Indian Air Force, Army, and Navy will remain its top priority over the next five years.

BrahMos Aerospace said fulfilling orders from the Indian Air Force, Army and Indian Navy will remain its top priority over the next five years, as all three services continue to procure the supersonic cruise missile under major defence contracts.

The company has a strong order book from the Indian armed forces and is expanding its manufacturing capacity and supply chain to meet the growing demand for the missile system. BrahMos Aerospace CEO and MD Dr Jaiteerth Joshi said the company was committed to completing deliveries to the three services within the stipulated timelines.

"We have a robust order book from the domestic front. All three Services are taking the BrahMos missile, and we have major contracts. The domestic front also looks very buoyant. We are committed to fulfilling all these orders in a time-bound manner," Joshi said, according to news agency ANI.

Joshi said the company's priorities for both the near and long term were centred on completing the orders already placed by the armed forces. "In the near term and the long term, the priority is to complete the orders that we have received so far from the armed forces."

To meet these commitments, BrahMos Aerospace is strengthening its supply chain and expanding production capabilities. The company is also working to build additional manufacturing capacity that could be used to increase production in response to unforeseen requirements. "We are strengthening the supply chain to meet the growing demand and also build surge capacity in case of any eventuality," Joshi said.

According to Joshi, BrahMos Aerospace's manufacturing facilities in Hyderabad, Nagpur, Pilani and Lucknow are currently operating at full capacity. The Lucknow facility is the newest addition to the company's production network.

Deliveries of BrahMos missiles and associated systems are underway from these facilities as the company works to fulfil its existing contracts.

Joshi said the company was simultaneously strengthening its supply chain to support higher production levels.

Joshi also referred to the performance of the BrahMos missile during Operation Sindoor, saying the operation had demonstrated its capabilities in modern warfare. He stressed that the missile had proved its effectiveness in complex, high-intensity military operations.

Joshi also claimed that the missile's characteristics made it difficult for enemy radar and air defence warning systems to detect and track.

He further said BrahMos Aerospace is also working to reduce manufacturing costs by increasing indigenous content and improving production processes. The company had already begun benefiting from cost reductions as the Indian share of components and materials increased.

According to him, the cost of raw materials used in the mechanical components of the missile system has declined by approximately 20 per cent over the past two years.

He attributed the reduction to an expanding vendor base, improved manufacturing efficiency and the adoption of value engineering and re-engineering techniques.

The company has also introduced improvements in forging processes and component manufacturing to reduce material wastage and increase production efficiency.
