The Border Security Force (BSF) is on its toes after intelligence claimed that over 100 terrorists are waiting for an opportunity to enter India from Pakistani territory, Inspector General (Kashmir Frontier) Ashok Yadav said. The G Branch of the Border Security Force is keeping a close watch on these terror hideouts after it was learnt that there were 69 active terror launchpads operational in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) and mainland Pakistan, a report said.

The number of trained terrorists awaiting a window to infiltrate Indian fences is estimated to be between 100 and 120. So far, eight terrorists trying to enter India were killed by the BSF and Army personnel on duty. A large cache of arms and ammunition, including AK-47 rifle, MP-5 rifle, pistols, hand grenade, UBGL, Chinese grenades, have all been recovered from Northern Kashmir by his men, he added.

"Simultaneously, various training camps of terrorists are also under scrutiny of our intelligence wing... Our G unit is keeping a close watch on all the 69 active launching pads along the LoC, where around 100–120 terrorists have been waiting to infiltrate," IG Yadav was quoted as telling media. The G Branch or G Unit is the BSF’s intelligence wing. He didn't categorically define how many of the 69 were in PoK and elsewhere in Pakistan, and stopped at claiming their locations to be "across the Line of Control (LoC)."

BSF and Operation Sindoor

Despite the terror launchpads in PoK taking a major hit during Operation Sindoor, they were not wiped out, the intelligence proved. "Several terrorist launching pads across the LoC were destroyed during Operation Sindoor, but some launching pads are still active where there is the presence of terrorists," Ashok Yadav told reporters. BSF has inducted new surveillance equipment and weaponry, including the improved night surveillance and warfare capabilities, to prepare its troops for any emergency along the LoC, he added.

All BSF units of Kashmir Frontier, including its Artillery regiments, targeted Pakistani posts and bunkers when fighting erupted following the initial airstrikes. Heavy casualties were inflicted on Pak troops and some of the terrorist launch pads were obliterated, he added.
