Three foreign militants were killed in 'Operation Mahadev', jointly launched by the Chinar Corps of the Indian Army, J&K Police and CRPF on Monday.
Media reports claim that the three slain militants were involved in the dastardly Pahalgam terror attack in April in which 26 people were killed.
According to a News18 report, intelligence sources have confirmed that the slain terrorists belonged to Pakistan-based terror outfit Lashkar-e-Taiba.
The process of identifying the bodies of the militants is underway, say media reports.
How the encounter unfolded
According to officials, the encounter broke out between terrorists and security forces in the Harwan area near the Dachigam National Park in Srinagar on Monday.
The security forces, acting on an intelligence input, launched an anti-militancy operation in the Mulnar area of Harwan. Soon, reinforcements were rushed to the area, and the combing operations were intensified to track down the terrorists.
After a brief gun battle, the security personnel managed to trap the militants and neutralise them.
