Ahead of the public listing of Reliance Industries' Jio, the company said it aims to save a spot for itself in the country's journey towards a USD 1.4 trillion digital economy by fiscal 2031, banking on its 533 million customers.

"The last 3 years have seen an EBITDA growth of almost 17.8 per cent, to be exact. 53.3 per cent EBITDA margins in the first quarter of this financial year. What we have stood for is building and delivering value for our Indian customers whilst making sure that our business stays very healthy. The basis of our EBITDA and our EBITDA growth has been us powering 60 per cent of India's digital traffic. Today, Jio carries over 60 per cent of India's data traffic," said Akash Ambani, managing director of Jio Platforms, ahead of the anticipated initial public offering of the company.

The company reported EBITDA of Rs 76,225 crore in FY26, with a compound annual growth rate of 17.8 per cent between FY24 and FY26. Its EBITDA margin stood at 53.3 per cent in the first quarter of FY27, he said.

Talking about the 6G technology, Ambani mentioned that the company intends to do 6G as a software upgrade rather than a new infrastructure. "Today, I spoke to over 360,000 towers laid over India and over 1 million root kilometres of pipeline. This means, for me, as we speak and I've always said that Jio's first mission is to democratise technology to benefit Indians. 6G is on our horizon. What this really means is that we will do 6G as a software upgrade rather than a new infrastructure. A large and engaged customer base and this is the most important part of our business. As long as we continue to deliver value to each of our customers, understand their needs better, serve those needs, we will be able to drive the digital services and the digital society of our mission much better," he said.

Outlining a strategy built around technology, digital connectivity and infrastructure, he mentioned that JIO is supported by three growth engines: mobility, home broadband, and enterprise and international services.

Ambani also highlighted the transformation in India's digital connectivity since Jio entered the telecom market in 2016, when average download speeds were about 2.5 Mbps. They have since risen to around 68 Mbps nationally.
