Zepto has decided to postpone its initial public offering (IPO) and instead plans to secure over ₹1,000 crore through pre-IPO funding rounds, with existing investors like Glade Brook and General Catalyst expected to participate. This move comes as the quick commerce company engages in discussions with institutional investors over its valuation, which has been a point of contention. Zepto had previously reduced its valuation expectation to $4-5 billion from $7 billion, and fund managers are reportedly pushing for further price reductions due to its singular focus on quick commerce. The company had initially planned for an IPO in 2025 but faced delays due to weak market conditions and valuation issues, leading to a change in domicile to India and a restart of the listing process.

If reports are to be believed, Zepto is expected to defer its plans for initial public offering (IPO).

Instead, the quick commerce startup will now prepare to raise over ₹1,000 crore in pre-IPO rounds from existing investors, according to multiple reports citing sources.

The funding round is likely to see existing investors like Glade Brook, General Catalyst, Goodwater Capital and Nexus Venture Partners take part, according to sources cited by Moneycontrol.

This comes amid negotiations with institutional investors over the valuation of the company, including domestic mutual funds and insurers.

Ahead of the IPO issue, Zepto previously lowered its valuation expectation to $4-5 billion. This was far less than the $7 billion valuation at which the company previously raised funds. In October 2025, Zepto raised $450 million at $7 billion valuation.

However, fund managers have been insisting on a pricing 30-40 per cent below the current $4-5 billion. With Zepto operating solely in the quick commerce sector and lacking any food delivery business, fund managers are against the idea of benchmarking Zepto valuation on par with Swiggy and Zomato-parent Eternal.

It should be noted that Zepto first planned to launch its IPO in 2025, but postponed it due to weak market conditions and valuation concerns. Later, the company shifted its domicile from Singapore to India, raised domestic ownership and restarted the listing process.

Market regulator SEBI sent its observation letter to Zepto on May 8, following which the quick commerce platform updated its draft red herring prospectus in June. The issue comprised a fresh issue of ₹8,010 crore and an offer for sale (OFS) of 11.34 crore shares by existing investors.
