The Indian government has reduced Aviation Turbine Fuel (ATF) prices by approximately Rs 5 per litre, with ATF now costing Rs 110 per litre in Delhi, following a decrease in global crude oil prices, which had previously surged due to West Asian geopolitical tensions. This price adjustment, likely to lower airfares as ATF constitutes a significant portion of airline operating costs, is part of a bi-monthly revision by state-owned companies based on international benchmarks and exchange rates. Concurrently, export duties on petrol, diesel, and ATF have been revised for a two-week period starting July 1, set at Rs 4 per litre for petrol, Rs 8.5 per litre for diesel, and Rs 7.5 per litre for ATF, while domestic excise duties remain unchanged and the price of 19 kg commercial LPG cylinders has been cut by Rs 183.50, with domestic LPG prices unaltered.

State-run oil marketing companies have cut aviation turbine fuel (ATF) prices by about Rs 5 per litre as global crude oil prices have eased. The reduction comes after weeks of record-high fuel costs, which were driven up by the geopolitical tensions in West Asia.

ATF in Delhi will now cost Rs 110 per litre, according to industry sources who spoke to PTI.

The reduction also comes as international prices have fallen slightly, easing concerns about supply disruptions.

Nearly 35-40 per cent of an airline's operating expenses are for ATF, and the reduction is also likely to bring down airfares.

ATF prices in India are revised twice every month by state-owned marketing companies based on international benchmark prices and the rupee-dollar exchange rate.

The centre has also updated export duties on petrol, diesel and ATF for two weeks starting on July 1, without changing the excise duties on the fuel sold in the domestic market. The export duties have now been fixed at Rs 4 per litre on petrol, Rs 8.5 per litre on diesel and Rs 7.5 per litre on ATF.

Sources also said that Mumbai-based Nayara Energy also cut petrol and diesel prices by Rs 5 and Rs 3, respectively. The changes are applicable across all 7000 fuel stations operated by the company.

Oil marketing companies also cut the price of the 19 kg commercial LPG cylinder by Rs183.50 with effect from July 1.

Domestic LPG prices are unchanged.
