Elon Musk-helmed Tesla commenced deliveries of the Model Y L in India—the US EV automaker's first three-row, six-seater electric vehicle for the market—priced from ₹61,99,000, making it one of the most significant product milestones since it entered India. The first batch of vehicles has been delivered through Tesla's direct-to-consumer model, which bypasses dealerships entirely in a move it says would ensure a consistent ownership experience across the country.

The Model Y L, a variant of Model Y, is positioned squarely as India's premium family EV. Its headline specifications are a WLTP-rated range of up to 681 km on a single charge, 0–100 km/h acceleration in 5.0 seconds, and a combined cargo capacity of up to 2,539 litres across all three rows.

Tesla is also offering a finance programme with a monthly payment starting at ₹49,990 under a step-up EMI plan at 8.5 per cent APR over a seven-year tenure, with a minimum down payment of ₹6,50,000

Alongside the Model Y L, Tesla has also recently launched the 2026 Model Y Premium Rear-Wheel Drive—a five-seater variant priced at ₹50,89,000, with deliveries scheduled from July 2026. It offers a WLTP range of up to 500 km, 0–100 km/h in 5.9 seconds, and 2,138 litres of storage space. Its EMI starts at ₹39,990 per month with a ₹6,00,000 down payment.

Both the Model Y L and the Premium RWD variant carry top safety ratings from NHTSA, IIHS, Euro NCAP, ANCAP, and C-IASI.

Tesla currently operates service centres and body shops in Mumbai, Gurugram, Delhi, and Pune, and is expanding this quarter into Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Chennai, and Ahmedabad.
