International delegates arriving in Delhi for the India AI Impact Summit 2026 will be able to pay like locals using UPI—without an Indian bank account or mobile number.

NPCI has rolled out its “UPI One World” wallet as a special pilot for visitors from more than 40 countries attending the summit from February 16 to 20 at Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi.

UPI in a wallet for global guests

The National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) announced that international delegates can use the UPI One World wallet to make seamless, real‑time person‑to‑merchant (P2M) payments during their stay.

The service lets visitors enjoy Indian shops, eateries and services using “Made in India” digital payments, avoiding the hassle of cash or repeated currency exchange.

The wallet is being issued through authorised prepaid payment instrument (PPI) providers and is available at two key touchpoints: New Delhi International Airport and NPCI’s pavilion at Bharat Mandapam (Hall 14, Stall 14.16), where the India AI Impact Summit is being held.

Any unused balance at the end of the trip can be sent back to the original funding source in line with foreign‑exchange rules, making it a closed, visitor‑friendly loop, said NPCI.

“UPI is the world’s largest real‑time payment system. By extending the ‘UPI One World’ service to foreign guests at the India AI Impact Summit, we are providing a convenient way to experience India’s real‑time payments ecosystem and Made in India technology. This initiative also offers a glimpse into how smoother cross‑border payment systems can support a more connected global digital economy,” said Sohini Rajola, Executive Director – Growth, NPCI.

How visitors can sign up

For this pilot, guests can download the ‘CheqUPI app by Transcorp’ from the Play Store or App Store and complete a short digital onboarding. They must enter basic details like mobile number, name and email, upload their passport and visa, and take a selfie for verification.

Once approved, a UPI ID is created, and they can load the UPI One World wallet using an international debit or credit card, then pay by scanning any UPI QR code via the app. Loads are capped at Rs 25,000 per transaction, with a maximum of two loads per month and an overall limit of Rs 50,000.

NPCI noted that UPI processed a record 21.70 billion transactions worth Rs 28.33 lakh crore in January 2026.
