Air India, IndiGo wing tips collide on taxiway at Mumbai airport; all passengers safe

The wing tips of an Air India and an IndiGo aircraft collided on the taxiway at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport in Mumbai on Tuesday. Passengers who were aboard both flights are safe. No injuries were reported.

Air India flight AI 2732 and IndiGo flight 6E 791 were the two aircraft involved in the collision. Coimbatore-bound AI 2732 was pushing back for takeoff when its wing tip collided with 6E 791, which was taxiing to a parking stand after arriving from Hyderabad.

An Air India spokesperson stated that all passengers alighted safely after the minor collision. Air India's ground teams are arranging alternative flights to take them to their destination at the earliest, the representative added.

"The incident has been reported to the regulator. Air India regrets the inconvenience caused to passengers due to this event. The safety of our passengers and crew remains our highest priority," the carrier said.

IndiGo also issued a statement, saying, "All passengers are safe and disembarked after parking. The aircraft is undergoing maintenance inspections. In line with established protocols, the relevant authorities were promptly informed and the matter is being investigated. At IndiGo, the safety and security of our customers, crew and aircraft remain our highest priority."
