The world’s most valued EV maker, Tesla Motors, reported weaker vehicle deliveries but record energy storage deployments for the fourth quarter of 2025, a mixed set of numbers that pushed its share price lower in Friday’s US market trading.

In the three months to December, Elon Musk-helmed Tesla produced 434,358 vehicles and delivered 418,227 units worldwide. Most of this came from its mass‑market line-up, with Model 3/Y production at 422,652 and deliveries at 406,585, while other models, such as the premium and newer vehicles, made up 11,706 units produced and 11,642 delivered.

For the full year 2025, Tesla manufactured 1,654,667 vehicles and handed over 1,636,129 to customers, showing that production remained slightly ahead of deliveries. Model 3/Y again dominated, accounting for about 1.6 million units produced and 1.585 million delivered in 2025.

Energy business hits new high

Tesla’s energy storage business continued to scale rapidly. The company deployed 14.2 GWh of battery storage products in Q4 alone, a new quarterly record, and 46.7 GWh over the whole of 2025.

Management reminded investors that deliveries and deployments are only two indicators of performance, and that revenue, profit and cash flow will be disclosed with full Q4 financial results on January 28, 2026, followed by an investor webcast.

On Friday, Tesla’s stock closed at about $438 per share on Nasdaq, down roughly 2.6 per cent for the session. Market reports said traders were disappointed that the 418,227 deliveries figure came in below analyst expectations and marked another year‑on‑year decline, even as some analysts described the outcome as “better than feared”.

Despite the pullback, Tesla remains one of the most valuable automakers globally, with investors now looking ahead to the January 28 earnings call for more detail on margins, AI and robotaxi plans.
