"IndiGo regrettably acknowledges that part of our customers travelling on 3/4/5 December 2025 were stranded for many hours at certain airports and a number of them were severely impacted due to congestion," the airline spokesperson said in an official statement on Thursday.

Earlier in the day, the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) summoned IndiGo CEO Pieter Elbers and demanded a comprehensive report, including data and updates, on the recent operational disruptions.

The airline, which took a hit to its operations and brand over the course of the past 11 days, has now offered additional measures in the form of travel vouchers.

IndiGo travel voucher and eligibility

"We will offer travel vouchers worth Rs 10,000 to such severely impacted customers. These travel vouchers can be used for any future IndiGo journey for the next 12 months," stated IndiGo.

This was an extra measure, the airline noted, over and beyond the mandated government-stipulated compensatory measures in place. "This compensation is in addition to the commitment under the existing Government guidelines, as per which, IndiGo will provide compensation of Rs 5000 to Rs 10,000, depending on the block time of the flight, to those customers whose flights were cancelled within 24 hours of departure time," the note said.

Did you get IndiGo refund?

IndiGo confirmed on the note that "all necessary refunds for cancelled flights have been initiated, most of which have already reflected in [customer] accounts, with the remainder following shortly."

However, if the booking was done via "a travel partner platform", the airline urged customers to reach out to them directly. "As we may not have your complete details in our system, we request you to write to us at customer.experience@goindigo.in so we can continue to assist you promptly," it added.

As of Thursday, IndiGo expects to seamlessly operate more than 1,950 during the day. It assured that there were "no same-day cancellations for the last 3 days" in another statement. This was after agencies reported on Thursday morning, citing sources, that at least 32 IndiGo arrivals and 28 departures were cancelled from Kempegowda International Airport, Karnataka, on December 11.
