Bajaj Auto may have entered the mini e-rickshaw space with Riki after taking its own sweet time, but it looks to expand its national presence heavily by March 2026.

A new agency report quoted Bajaj Auto Executive Director Rakesh Sharma, who stated that Riki has already scaled to eight cities now. Between January and March 2026, Bajaj Auto looks to hit 200 cities/towns, he noted.

After recently launching it in Patna, Moradabad, Guwahati, and Raipur, Bajaj Auto is looking to get feedback from customers and then plan to zero in on its communications and promotional strategy for the Riki.

In the first phase, Bajaj Auto is targeting the states of Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, and Assam with the Riki, priced at around Rs 1.9 lakh.

Bajaj's e-rickshaw, with a single-charge range of 140km (as per Bajaj Auto), is powered using a lithium-ion battery, versus many other manufacturers that use a lead-acid battery.

Bajaj already has the larger-sized electric three-wheelers under the GoGo brand. While the Riki has the model number P4006 and upwards, the Bajaj GoGo comes in three variants, P5009, P5012, and P7012. According to Bajaj Auto, ‘P’ stands for Passenger, ‘50’ and ‘70’ are size indicators, while ‘09’ and ‘12’ denote the battery capacity of 9kWh and 12kWh. Using the same logic, the Bajaj Riki P4006 will have a 6kWh battery and a much smaller build.
