Every year, NSE and BSE conduct 'Muhurat Trading' for one hour on the eve of Diwali. This special one-hour live trading session is considered to be auspicious for traders and investors who choose to buy stocks during this period on Diwali.
As per the official website of NSE, this year, Muhurat trading will be executed on October 21, 2025.
The normal market will open at 1.45 pm and will close at 2.45 pm. Traders and investors need to note that the setup cut off time for position limit/ collateral value is 2.55 pm and the trade modifical end time will be at 2.55 pm as well.
"All trades executed in this Diwali Muhurat trading session shall result in settlement obligations," mentioned the official notice.
According to Moneycontrol, the session also marks the beginning of a new Samvat — the Hindu calendar year that starts on Diwali — and it is believed that trading during the ‘Muhurat’ or auspicious hour brings prosperity and financial growth for the stakeholders.
Officials also informed that trading would take place across various segments like equity, commodity derivatives, currency derivatives, equity futures & options, and securities lending & borrowing (SLB) in the same time slot.
