Zomato parent Eternal, which also owns Blinkit, Hyperpure, and District, recently revealed that it received three orders on Monday from the GST authority in Bengaluru, for a total demand of a little over Rs 40.3 crore.
The three orders from the Joint GST Commissioner, Appeals-4, Bengaluru, included demands for the period from July 2017 to March 2020.
The total GST demand was for around Rs 17.2 crore. The interest of Rs 21.4 crore was added, along with a penalty of Rs 1.7 crore, which brought the total to a little over Rs 40.3 crore.
“The company has received 3 orders on 25 August 2025 for the period July 2017 to March 2020 passed by Joint Commissioner, Appeals-4, Bengaluru, confirming total demand of GST of Rs 17,19,11,762 (Rupees seventeen crores nineteen lakhs eleven thousand seven hundred and sixty two only) with interest of Rs 21,42,14,791 (Rupees twenty one crores forty two lakhs fourteen thousand seven hundred and ninety one only) and penalty of Rs 1,71,91,177 (Rupees one crore seventy one lakhs ninety one thousand one hundred seventy seven only).
Eternal, in its regulatory filing, stated that they had a “strong case on merits, backed by the view from lawyers” and that they would file appeals against the orders.
According to the Zomato parent, the first order was regarding a short payment of output tax, the second and the third were on excess availment of input tax credit.
Eternal reassured shareholders that it did not expect the GST notices to have any financial impact on the company.
