American multinational telecommunications holding company AT&T Inc warned about the leak of personal data of nearly 7.6 million current account holders and as many as 65.4 million former customers onto the dark web.

According to a Bloomberg report, the leaked data include social security numbers. It appears that the leak is from 2019 or earlier, and the source of the data is being probed, AT&T said.

“The company is communicating proactively with those impacted and will be offering credit monitoring at our expense where applicable,” the company said in a statement.

The leak, however, is yet to have any sort of material effects on the company's operations.
