L&T reports 45 pc increase in net profit to Rs 3,223 crore in September quarter

Says it received the highest-ever order inflows in the history of the company

Engineering and construction major Larsen & Toubro (L&T), on Tuesday, reported a 45 per cent increase in consolidated net profit to Rs 3,223 crore for the September quarter.

The company's consolidated revenue for the second quarter rose by 19 per cent to Rs 51,024 crore. International revenues at ₹21,898 crore constituted 43 per cent of the total revenue.

EBITDA (earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation, and amortization) margins improved to 9.5 per cent for the quarter.

"Our strong operating and financial performance this quarter exhibits the resilience of the Company’s business model despite the ongoing volatile geo-political situation," chairman and managing director of the company S.N. Subrahmanyan said.

"All our businesses – projects, manufacturing and services—have grown. During the quarter, we have received the highest-ever order inflows in the history of the company. This shows the faith our customers place on us and is a reflection of our capability to perform and deliver projects on time. The company now tops the list of international EPC Contractors working in the MENA region in terms of value for projects under execution," he said.

Meanwhile, the board of the company approved the incorporation of wholly owned subsidiary to engage in fabless semiconductor chip design with an investment of up to Rs 830 crore.
