Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman announced a capital outlay of Rs 2.40 crore for railways.
Presenting her fifth budget, the finance minister said this is the highest-ever allocation since 2013-14.
The amount allocated is nine times the amount that was announced in financial year 2014.
The finance minister further said the enhanced capex of Rs 10 trillion for infrastructure development is 3.3 per cent of the GDP.
Sitharaman said 100 critical transport infrastructure projects have been identified for implementation.
