R.S. Sodhi, managing director of Amul, resigned from the post on Monday. 

The decision to remove Sodhi was taken at a board meeting of Gujarat Cooperative Milk Marketing Federation (GCMMF), which operates Amul (Anand Milk Union Limited).

Jayen Mehta will replace Sodhi as the interim managing director of the company, reports Moneycontrol. Mehta is the COO of GCMMF.

Sodhi was appointed to the post in 2010. He was given an extension over the last four years and has led the company for nearly 13 years.

Sodhi completed his MBA from the Institute of Rural Management Anand (IRMA) and joined Amul as a senior manager, sales.
