Final appointment in 8 weeks, says the microblogging platform

TWITTER-GOVERNMENT/ACCOUNTS

Microblogging platform Twitter on Thursday informed the Delhi High Court that it has appointed an Indian resident as its interim Chief Compliance Officer effective July 6. The company has also sought eight weeks to make an offer of employment to a qualified candidate to fill the Chief Compliance Officer's position.

Twitter told the court that it has engaged the services of the interim Chief Compliance Officer as a contingent worker via a third-party contractor and has also addressed a communication to MeitY (Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology).

On Tuesday, the high court had pointed out that only an interim RGO was appointed by Twitter and a wrong impression was given to the court on May 31 as it was not informed that the officer was on interim basis.

The high court had granted time till July 8 and said, it was expected that on the next date of hearing, Twitter's counsel will be ready with its stand regarding compliance with all other requirements.
