UNION BUDGET LIVE: Modi, Shah call budget futuristic

Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman is all set to present the first budget of Narendra Modi 2.0 government in the Parliament today.

The Union budget is expected to boost spending at the cost of short-term slippage in fiscal deficit targets besides offering some tax relief to common man by raising personal income tax threshold for certain categories.

India's economy has been been affected by slowing trade, rising protectionism, trade conflict between the United States and China, Brexit, US sanctions on Russia, Iran and Venezuela. The sluggish pace of economy has resulted in people placing a lot of expectations on the budget offering increased stimulus measures to boost the growth in the form of policy initiatives and continued reforms which would result in more employment opportunities.
