Ibhaan, a Bengaluru-based technology company, is aiming to streamline the right to products information for consumers or end users through a set of its solutions. The company feels that as consumers we are unaware of a product's origin since many manufacturers do not offer details about who packed the product (which employee) or at which manufacturing plant it was produced, among others.

The company believes that the consumer will feel more empowered if there is a proper method which can provide a consumer information of a product like the manufacturing plant location, person who packed it, and the shop that is selling it, among others. Similarly, a consumer should also know who collected his or her confidential information under KYC or Aadhaar or when he purchased a mobile phone sim card which sales person sold it etc. This technology company is just trying to streamline all the information which a customer should have.

“Do you know that it is your right to seek information about the products that you use or pay tax for? Do you know that as consumers, you have the right to know the genuinity of the products that the manufacturers are offering. Similarly, this concept can be applied in the education domain too as there are several instances of fake and duplicate marks sheets, certificates and other documents created by fraudsters. The key reason is non-availability of linkages to the original sources of issuance of these documents. The institutions issuing the original documents do not have a control on authorisation processes within its programs, except that certain data is stored for post fraud detection,” Badrinath B.R., president and founder of Ibhaan Digital Edge Advance Solutions Limited told THE WEEK.

Broadly the company's solutions target different types of products such as documents, packages, FMCG products, pharma, toys, and edible products, among others. “Our different solutions are pervasive and is applicable to almost any product or commodities with customised engineering,” explained Badrinath.

The product information is streamlined due to the different solutions that the company offers. Submission of product details (security content by Ibhaan) are to be owned by the manufacturers and issuers in case documents. The custom security data are scanned by detection devices developed by Ibhaan (the patent applied for the device is pending) at packaging stages at the manufacturers plants prior to their despatch. The ownership of products or commodities are thus established, which contains special security features unique to each product or commodity.

The products and commodities are scanned by mobile apps (specifically designed by Ibhaan) which offers source information by encrypted contents of Ibhaan. The information so produced are linked to the owners encrypted content by Ibhaan's multilayer security programs with auto feedback as referentially integrated to stake holders viz, manufacturers, government authorities and consumers.

The company has also come up with a solution that can help trace the origin of a document and who issued it, and hence can help in the prevention of fraud. The company has already applied for a patent for its solution DOVES (Document Originality Verification and Encryption System), that is deployed at the institutions end to record custom security features designed by the company that are verified with issuer’s (institution’s authorised personnel) biometric attributes and is linked to secure codes that are read by either a mobile app or DOVES devices at the verification end (subscribers).

“Original documents, its authorised issuers (nominated personnel of institutions), location and time stamps should be identified and recorded prior to their issuance to the students. Through this it will be easy to trace frauds and would help in the prevention of illegal issuance of certificates,” remarked Badrinath.

Badrinath said that his company's solutions can be deployed in different areas such as insurance (policy documentation), property and asset registration (revenue departments), healthcare (hospitals and pharma), birth and death documents, among others. It would also ease the verification of passports and travel documents at the immigration counters at the airports. “The person who is checking the document should be able to know at the click of a button that the document is genuine and which person or office had issued it and at exact what time it was issued so that the concerned person or the authority can be probed in case it is a fraud. There are scores of people who travel out of the country on forged documents and carry fake passports. It can help prevent that,” added Badrinath.

Ibhaan is also working on a patent pending solution called MAVISys (Multilayer Automotive Vehicle Information System). The solution is based on nano technology and can help in the detection of fake or altered number plates. The company is already in talks with different state authorities, universities and travel departments across the country to deploy its solutions for better fraud detection.
