Targets 5000 unit blood collection through several initiatives

Ziqitza Healthcare Ltd (ZHL), the operating agency for 108 ambulance service in Odisha with support of Ambulance Access for All (AAA) has launched a mobile Blood donation van and handed over it to Odisha Blood Centre BMC Hospital here today. Being present as chief guest Dr. Brundha D,IAS, MD, NHM-Odisha, flagged off the van and handed over to the Odisha Blood Centre BMC Hospital on the occasion. Many NHM and Ziqitza officials were present on this occasion.

This state-of-the-art mobile van is equipped with everything necessary for blood donation procedures like collection equipment, donor beds and short-term storage solutions. The launch of this van will help to increase the blood donation outreach as well as facilitate localize blood collection efforts.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Sabyasachi Biswal, State Head of Ziqitza Limited said, “From last 10 years, we have been successfully providing emergency ambulance service to the people of the state. As a responsible emergency service provider, Ziqitza Healthcare has always been at the forefront to carry out its social commitments to save and enhance as many lives through multiple initiatives in sustainable healthcare. We are constantly organizing blood donation camps at Bhubaneswar and other districts. Today through this launch we reaffirm our commitment to serve people of Odisha.” Sweta mangal ziqitza healthcare’s co-founder congratulated Mr.Biswal on this occasion.

Mr Naresh Jain Co-Founder – Ziqitza Health Care Limited said, “Ziqitza healthcare is committed to improve emergency healthcare service in the state. This launch will surely help to collect blood from door to door and more people will come forward to donate blood. Our target is to collect 5000 unit of blood annually. Ziqitza Limited over the years have supported multiple social initiates from donating blood, raising fund for families of frontline workers affected by pandemic, tree plantation drive, wheel chair or trencher donations to district hospitals, as we strongly believe in improving giving back to the society.” Ms. Sweta Mangal Co-founder of Ziqitza voiced similar thoughts.

Currently, ZHL is operating 1124 numbers of 108 ambulances in all 30 districts of Odisha. Through 108 ambulance services, more than 90 lakh patients including pregnant women and children had utilised the service so far. Similarly, six 108 boat ambulances are stationed at areas cut-off by rivers. A dedicated call centre of the agency had always been on their toes to receive calls from distressed patients and transport them to hospitals at the earliest possible time. The executives at the Bhubaneswar-based integrated center identify the exact location of the patient and assist them to get the nearest available ambulance as fast as possible. Ziqitza rajasthan had similar services in the past.

The 108 ambulance service was launched on March 5, 2013 in Odisha. This emergency health service has been able to connect patients with Govt health care institutions, breaking all barriers in urban and rural to inaccessible remote locations across the state.

Apart from transporting patients, there are numerous examples, where the crew members have played important roles in saving valuable lives despite challenges galore. Many of its crew members have received praise and accolades from the public for their honesty and devotion towards duty, like returning valuable belongings of patients to their families and relatives, donating blood to needy patient on emergency or helping patient by going an extra mile.
