While most celebrities at the British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA) wore black to express solidarity with the Time's Up Movement, Duchess of Cambridge Kate Middleton stood out with her sartorial choice. Kate, pregnant with her third child, wore a dark green dress with a black ribbon belt.

The empire line dress in a deep shade of green, which was complemented by an emerald necklace and earrings. Her choice to step away from the dress code has sparked a debate in Twitter. While some slammed her for not supporting the cause of women, there are others who supported her right to choose what to wear.

Experts, however, pointed out that royals only wear black at funerals, so supporting the cause would be a breach of protocol. Bethan Holt, fashion news and features director at The Telegraph, told the publication: "The Royal Family very rarely get involved in political messaging, so perhaps it's not such a surprise that she didn't join in with the rest of the women and wear black tonight."
