Nagpur, May 26 (PTI) Congress leader Vijay Wadettiwar on Tuesday claimed that 23 party corporators from Chandrapur and Gadchiroli districts were not reachable, and they had been lured away by giving Rs 5 lakh each ahead of the June 18 Maharashtra Legislative Council elections.

The Congress had started the process of issuing whips and disqualifying these "sold" representatives, he said.

Horse-trading was taking place in a brazen manner in Chandrapur, Wadettiwar said, alleging the involvement of a ruling party MLA.

He also slammed the BJP-led state government over the plight of onion growers who have seen prices of the kitchen staple crashing and indebted farmers.

Asked about a government delegation slated to travel to Delhi to discuss the onion price issue, the Congress leader said that whenever the prices rise, the traders who have purchased the crop at rock-bottom prices would make money and not the farmers.
On the government's promise of a crop loan waiver up to Rs 2 lakh, Wadettiwar said it had announced a loan waiver during the budget session, but no administrative decision has been issued yet.
