Srinagar, May 18 (PTI) Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah and PDP chief Mehbooba Mufti were among the several leaders who expressed condolences over the demise of the father of Baramulla MP Sheikh Abdul (Engineer) Rashid.
"Chief Minister has expressed deep grief and sorrow over the passing away of the father of Hon'ble MP Er Rashid and Hon'ble MLA Khursheed Ahmad Sheikh, who breathed his last at AIIMS, New Delhi," the CMO wrote on X.
Khazir Mohammad Sheikh (85) was undergoing treatment at a Delhi hospital over the past two weeks. He breathed his last on Monday.
"The Chief Minister conveyed his heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family and prayed for eternal peace to the departed soul. He also prayed for strength and courage to the family to bear this irreparable loss," the CMO said.
Former chief minister Mehbooba Mufti too expressed condolences over the demise of Khazir Mohammad Sheikh.
"Deeply saddened to hear about the passing away of Engineer Rashid sahab's father. The pain of losing a parent is quite devastating and I pray to Allah SWT ('Glory be to Him, the Exalted') to give the family patience and strength at this difficult time. May Allah SWT give him the highest place in Jannah. Ameen," she posted on her X handle.
Apni Party president and former minister Altaf Bukhari posted a condolence message in his social media handles. "Deeply saddened to hear of the passing of Haji Khazir Mohammad Sheikh Sahib, the father of incarcerated Member of Parliament Engineer Rashid Sahib," he said.
"In this hour of profound grief, I extend my heartfelt condolences, sympathies, and solidarity to entire bereaved family, especially Engineer Rashid Sahib. A father's loss is among life's heaviest sorrows, and such grief becomes even more painful when one is separated from family during such difficult times," he added.
